I knew this tune but never thought of singing it until a friend said it was her favorite. I really got it one winter afternoon hanging out on a hotel bed with my best girl, listening to Tony Bennett’s version.

2. Days of Wine and Roses
(Henry Mancini/Johnny Mercer, 1962)
Mercer’s mysterious, sad lyric has always fascinated me. Dave came up with a groove that somehow embodies it. And Noel plays brilliantly on this track.
